Sunset Pools was founded in 2001 by husband-and-wife team Adam and Sonia Traugott with a vision that was different from many builders at the time. Rather than focusing solely on swimming pools, they believed the backyard should become a natural extension of the home. A place where families could gather, entertain, relax, and create memories together.
More than two decades later, that philosophy continues to guide every project we design.
Today, Sunset Pools has completed more than 1,500 custom gunite pools and outdoor living projects throughout Katy, Fulshear, Cypress, Richmond, Sugar Land, and Greater Houston. While our company has grown, one thing has remained the same: every project is approached with the same level of care, careful planning, and personal involvement that has defined Sunset Pools since the beginning.

Sunset Pools was built on the complementary strengths of its founders. As a second-generation builder, Adam Traugott brings decades of construction knowledge, technical expertise, and design experience to every project. His experience helps guide everything from structural planning and site evaluation to construction quality and long-term performance. Sonia Traugott focuses on the client experience that has become a hallmark of Sunset Pools. She continually refines the company's communication, design process, customer journey, and overall standards, ensuring homeowners feel informed, supported, and cared for from the first conversation through project completion. Together, Adam and Sonia remain actively involved in the company every day. For our clients, that means working with a family-owned business where leadership remains closely connected to every project, every homeowner, and every relationship.

Our Design Studio Experience
One of the things that truly sets Sunset Pools apart is our 4,500-square-foot Design Studio, located at our Katy office since 2008.
This is where ideas begin to take shape.
Many homeowners arrive with inspiration photos, a Pinterest board, or a general vision of what they hope to create. Inside the Design Studio, those ideas begin evolving into a cohesive outdoor living plan. Rather than making selections from small samples or catalogs, you’ll have the opportunity to compare real materials, explore finishes, evaluate decking and coping options, and see how different design elements work together before construction begins.
The Design Studio is personally curated by Sonia Traugott, reflecting the same attention to detail and design philosophy that define every Sunset Pools project. Alongside our design team, you’ll receive guidance throughout the selection process, helping you confidently choose materials and features that complement your home, your lifestyle, and the way you want to use your backyard.
