Frequently Asked Questions
Curious about the ins and outs of creating your dream outdoor living space with Sunset Pools? You’re in the right place!
What types of projects does Sunset Pools build?
We design and build turnkey backyard projects. In addition to pool & spa projects, optional additions include: firepits, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, covered patios, pergolas, bathrooms, pool houses, and landscaping.
What is the typical build timeline for a project?
Average pool and spa-only projects take roughly 12 weeks. As the scope of work increases, so does the build timeline. Timelines account for some delays due to weather, material, etc.
How will my project be managed during construction?
Sunset Pools will assign a construction manager to oversee the crews on site and update BuilderTrend (our online system), so our entire team can track your projects progress and schedule. The construction manager will be your main point of contact for any construction-related questions.
What happens after I sign a contract?
Once a contract is signed, we will begin the approvals and pre-construction process. This includes submitting for permits to city building departments (if applicable), preparing HOA documents, construction plans, and laying out the pool area. We have two meetings during this time: A selections meeting to finalize materials and a pre-construction meeting to go over protocols, set expectations, meet your construction manager, and answer any remaining questions you may have.
Can I finance my pool?
Yes! While Sunset Pools does not offer in-house financing, we have recommended lenders you can work with, or you are welcome to use other lenders that best fit your needs.
Does Sunset Pools offer service and maintenance?
Sunset Pools does not have a service department. We can offer recommendations on service companies based on your location.
Does Sunset Pools offer renovation work?
Yes, we do! Please reach out, and we can put a proposal together for your project. In the meantime, check out some of our renovation work on our Pool Renovations page.
What type of equipment is used for a pool?
Sunset Pools uses Pentair for standard equipment configuration which includes variable speed pumps, filters, LED color lights, app-controlled automation systems, and pool cleaners. There are some upgrade options that we offer as well.
What upgraded cleaning systems are available for a pool?
Some upgraded cleaning and sanitation systems that Sunset Pools offers are Paramount in-floor cleaners and UV + Ozone sanitizers, and automated chemical dispensers by Pentair.
Should I get a saltwater or chlorine pool?
Sunset Pools highly recommends chlorine over salt pools. Salt systems are highly corrosive to the materials used on a pool, especially on natural stone like travertine and flagstone, and over time this accelerates deterioration.
What is an infinity pool?
An infinity edge pool is where one or multiple edges of the pool seem to disappear into the horizon. The “infinity” edge has no coping and allows water to flow into a catch basin that is ideally unseen from eye level. This type of pool is only an option if you have elevation change to your yard, preferably at least a 24” drop.
